A Little Information About Our President

David Mladen's Background

"I came to the United States at the age of 16 in 1971 with my parents and my brothers from Vienna, Austria. I shortly after started working in a knitting factory to help support my family. In 1973, I went back to Yugoslavia where i met my wife, Vera. In 1975, I started working for Harry Hemsly & Co. and that year in September, I became a father when my daughter Gorica was born. My son, Goran was born January 1977. In 1978, I became an American citizen. I continued to work at Harry Hemsly & Co. until 1981.

In May 1981, I bought my first property in the Bronx. By 1985, I owned and managed over 700 units in Manhattan and the Bronx. My wife Vera was also involved in the managing of all the properties. By 1989, Vera and I owned and managed nearly 1,000 units in Manhattan and the Bronx.

Today I fell lucky to have my son and daughter by my side. We are all involved managing all the properties we own today. My son Goran is married and has a son of his own. My daughter Gorica, is also married, and will soon have her own child. My son-in-law Fedele is also involved in our family business.

This is a true family business and we work well together. My children have grown into intelligent business leaders. With the help of my children and there spouses and my wife, our businesses are prospering and we are constantly looking for ways to expand.

Since I started owning and managing real estate in 1981, I always believed to keep low expenditures and to obtain the highest profit available. Today we have up to seven people working in our Hartford, CT office. which is located in one of the buildings we own. It is a small simple office, but the job gets done. We have our own site managers in every region that we own properties in. One manages our CT properties, one manages our MA properties, and one manages our NY properties. Our other two offices are also located in those properties. Each regional office reports to our main office in Hartford, CT where all of our financials are kept and updated.

Business is going well in all three regional locations. I often visit each office personally to make sure that each property manager is doing a satisfactory job.
